spooky

In my childhood days I remember us cousins used to wrap ourselves with blankets in a darkened room and tell each other horror stories, somehow those stories always used to start like this, “I swear its true because it really happened to my maid’s cousin’s aunt’s grandmother…”. One storyteller dramatizing the horror story while rest of the listeners willing to gasp aloud at every appropriate moment and shuddering in terror.

And that phase of teen-age when bunch of us girls packed in one lounge with loads of pop corns and fries used to scream ourselves hoarse over any bloody movie scene. Less due to horror and more because of fun.

Lately horror stories don’t spook me out much. I mean it’s a bit hard to believe in flying monsters and witches but few days ago I heard of two incidents that kind of managed to imprint on my mind.

Story no.1: Lets forget who told who and why I believe it’s true A few months ago, in Karachi, a guy was driving his car rushing off to whatever place. Near star gate, he saw a man at roadside asking for the lift. Obviously, the guy didn’t stop and drove on. Few minutes after he again saw the same man along the roadside asking for the lift. He didn’t pay much attention and rushed on. A few more kilometers he again saw the same man asking for the lift. Perplexed, he didn’t stop the car but to confirm his suspicion that he was the same man or not, he looked into the review mirror. What he saw that, that man was sitting in the back seat of his car… That guy almost had an accident. Later when he thoroughly checked his car, he couldn’t find him. He was too shook up to drive afterwards.

Though, I consider myself made of tougher material but lately whenever I’m driving my car I check my review mirror a bit too often. Not such a good sign so I decided to get this story out of my system.

Story no.2: Pakistani girl studying in London one night didn’t realize the time when studying in local university library and almost missed her bus. It was almost midnight and London isn’t exactly a safe place for women in darker hours so naturally she was worried. Fortunately, she got the last bus and she breath a sigh of relief when she saw 3 other girls beside her in the bus. Infact they were the only ones in the bus. She smiled a friendly smile but her smile wasn’t returned. There were two black girls, who looked like they belong to a street gang and between them there was a white girl. All were staring at her infact glaring at her. Especially the white girl who was staring at her so hard that she wasn’t even blinking. This intense staring made the Asian girl nervous and she decided to get off the bus at the next possible bus stop. But at the next bus stop an Asian young man clad in a medical white coat climbed into the bus, seeing another Asian face made her revise her decision. The guy smiled at her and she smiled back, after a while the guy started to look nervous, those intense staring of three girls were grating his nerves as well. He kept glancing at them and after a while, he started to look afraid. He quietly reckoned the Pakistani girl to come near the bus door. She came near him, his nervousness rubbing off in her as well. At the approaching bus stop he suddenly grabbed her hand and shouted at her to jump. They both jumped off the bus.

After getting her breath back, she realized what a stupid thing she had done. A stranger asked her to jump off the bus and like an idiot without questioning his motives, she jumped off. As if reading her mind, that guy looked straight into her eyes and said, “Didn’t you notice the white girl in between? She is dead! Those two black girls were holding her dead body between them”

  1. Story no.1: very spooky! I think, I shivered. No, not sure.. Umm..lemme think again, hmm.. yes I did!

But looking at the positive aspect, at least now you have a habit to glance at the rear mirror frequently while driving :-p

    Story no.2: OMG!

ur sure spooky no.1 is scary enough??..u can think again if u want

Ah, as far as glancing in rear mirror a bit too often is concerned…try almost ramming into public bus just because u ‘thought’ u saw that man in ur back seat that later turn out to be lil sister head… like that public bus driver said, “khaaana khaaraab kya kerdhta hai???”
